I was first licenced in 1973 as VK4ZLL I was active from 1973 as ZLL and played a fairly active part with comunications during the 1974 Brisbane floods and had a writeup in the Courier Mail for same.
Christine was first licenced in 1982 as VK4VDV and within a couple of years upgraded to VK4KCA.
Christine has been my wite and constant companion since the early 1970's
We lived for a short time at Wacol and while our house did not flood, we decided to move to higher ground at Camira.
I worked full JOTA weekends with the Girl Guides in conjuction with my lovely wife VK4KCA and VK4DH David Holton. Many years were at Camp Constable Mt Glorious (S E Queensland).I remained active until about 1995 when business and life took over, but we kept our licences current in case.
In 2011 we moved to Ocean View and in 2012 while sorting old stuff for the dump, came accross my old 2m ICOM, thought for sure it would be dead as it had not been turned on in over 16 years. Plugged it in and it lit up, found an old antenna plugged it in and to my surprise it transmitted put out a call and have been active since. Main radios are a 2mtr Yeasu FT9800 and a dual band Icom IC -2730A -Christine has a 25w dual band QTY in her Mazda CX5 and I have the same radio in my 4x4 Hylux.
We also have about 6 dual band 2/70 handdies lying about the place UV5R and Digital.
